Holy Week at Newtown United Methodist Church
Holy Week is the heart of the Christian story. In these sacred days we walk the path from celebration, to sacrifice, to resurrection. Each service invites us to pause, reflect, and encounter the hope that comes through Christ.
Whether you attend regularly or are simply looking for a place to experience the meaning of Easter, you are welcome to join us for this journey.
Palm Sunday – March 29 | 10:00 AM
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week with the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem as crowds waved palm branches and shouted praise. Yet the week ahead would reveal how quickly public praise can turn. This service invites us to reflect on the crossroads of faith and the choices we make.
Maundy Thursday – April 2
6:00 PM – Soup & Bread Supper
We gather for a simple meal together in the spirit of fellowship and remembrance.
7:00 PM – Communion Worship Service
This reflective service remembers the night Jesus shared the Last Supper with his disciples and gave the commandment to love one another.
Good Friday – April 3 | 7:00 PM
Into Your Hands: A Service of Surrender and Release
Good Friday invites us to sit with the gravity of the cross. This contemplative service invites us to step into the mystery of the cross. Through prayer, silence, and symbolic acts of surrender, we remember Christ’s sacrifice and bring before God the things we can no longer carry alone.
Easter Sunday – April 5
9:00 AM – Continental Breakfast
10:00 AM – Easter Worship Service & Children’s Easter Celebration
Easter morning is a celebration of resurrection and new life. We gather in joyful worship to proclaim that death does not have the final word.
All are welcome.
