Romans: Grace, Identity & the Struggle to Become One

Newtown United Methodist Church | Tuesdays beginning September 15 | 10:00 AM | Wesley Hall | 8 Weeks

What if Romans is about more than we thought?

This fall, we’re taking a fresh look at Paul’s letter to the Romans, one of the most influential and most misunderstood letters in the Bible. Together, we’ll explore Romans in its historical world, wrestle with some of its biggest ideas, and discover why its questions about grace, identity, faith, power, belonging, division, and what it means to become one in Christ still matter today.

This will be a thoughtful, engaging, intergenerational study designed for people who enjoy asking questions and going deeper. You do not need a background in biblical studies, and you do not need to have all the answers. Bring your Bible, your curiosity, and a willingness to look at familiar passages with fresh eyes.

Throughout the eight weeks, we’ll draw on BibleProject videos and insights from J. R. Daniel Kirk’s Romans for Normal People, along with conversation, historical context, and contemporary application.

Companion Book: Throughout the study, we’ll be drawing from Romans for Normal People by J. R. Daniel Kirk. Participants are encouraged to have a copy of the book as we explore Romans together.
