united methodist women

United Methodist Women of Newtown UMC is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. In support of these goals, we provide opportunities for fellowship, outreach, and spiritual growth. We hold fellowship and outreach events throughout the year, raise money for missions, partake in an annual women’s retreat, and support, strengthen, and learn from each other.

We seek to strengthen fellowship ties through smaller circles within our group, which gather for fellowship, bible study, and outreach projects. Additionally, we expand our fellowship ties to our larger community through church-wide outreach events. These events include the Spring & Fall Rummage Sales and the Holiday Bazaar & Luncheon.

Any woman may become a member who chooses to belong and is committed to the purpose. However, you do not have to be a member to attend our meetings! All women are welcome.  Interested in learning more or joining United Methodist Women?

Mission in Action

A Community Coat Drive

In February, the United Methodist Women of Newtown United Methodist Church organized a coat drive to support children and teenagers in need through Methodist Services in Philadelphia. Thanks to the generosity of our congregation, 140 new coats were collected to help young people stay warm during the cold winter months. In total, 750 coats were gathered through the broader effort, making Newtown’s contribution a meaningful part of the overall impact.

Methodist Services, founded in 1879 as the Methodist Home for Children, continues its long mission of caring for children and families facing difficult circumstances. Through simple acts of compassion like this coat drive, our church is able to extend warmth, dignity, and hope beyond our walls.

We are grateful to the United Methodist Women and to everyone who contributed. Together, we continue to show God’s love in action, helping care for children and families in our wider community.
