United Methodist Men at Newtown UMC is a community of men who are committed to their spiritual growth, experience God’s transforming power in their lives, and share their faith to live and grow in others. We are a supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek his will.
Through our ministry, we aim to live out the good news of Jesus Christ within our congregation and beyond. In support of this purpose, United Methodist Men:
- Runs a scrap metal drive, which helps support numerous missions and outreach projects within NUMC and globally.
- The missions that we support include the Caring for Friends food delivery ministry, Shaloca International Ministries, and we support the salary for a Pastor in Sierra Leon.
- Supports NUMC’s disaster response trailer, which we have deployed numerous times to aid recovery efforts following natural disasters.
- Hosts our church-wide annual Pig Roast

The United Methodist Men’s Annual Pig Roast – Serving with Purpose
Saturday, September 13, 2025
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Newtown United Methodist Church Parking Lot
For years, the United Methodist Men of Newtown UMC have faithfully organized and hosted the annual Pig Roast, making it one of our church’s most cherished traditions. This year’s theme is “Hope After the Storm,” reminding us that fellowship can also become a channel for compassion and service.
The UMM will once again be serving up a hearty BBQ dinner, along with hot dogs, games like cornhole and lawn activities, live DJ music, face painting, and activities for children. But beyond the food and fun, the heart of this event is mission: 100% of donations will bring hope and help to Texas flood survivors. Gifts will support relief efforts through UMCOR, the disaster relief agency of the United Methodist Church, ensuring that every contribution is used wisely and effectively.
We are deeply grateful for the dedication of the United Methodist Men, who year after year faithfully combine fellowship and service through this meaningful event. If you would like to give directly, donations can be made HERE.
