You Have a Good Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. – Psalm 23:1

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking God is good to everyone but you. This is an excellent passage because David personalizes it for himself. He says, “The Lord is my shepherd.” David was going through a difficult season in his life, and he wrote this psalm as a reminder of the goodness of God. I will quote this psalm out loud when I find myself in need. I emphasize that the Lord is my shepherd; if he is my shepherd, all my needs will be met. Scripture says faith comes from hearing the word of God. (Romans 10:17). The more you hear Scripture, the more your faith is built.

Are you in need in some area of your life? If so, try quoting Psalm 23:1 out loud and keep saying it until you believe it.

Prayer: Loving and Gracious God, You are my shepherd, my Good Shepherd. You give me everything I need and more than I want. All I need in life is found in You. Thank you for your guidance, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
