Peace Pole Prayer of Remembrance – September 11, 2025

Thursday, September 11 at 8:46 AM
Newtown United Methodist Church – Peace Pole Garden
35 Liberty Street, Newtown, PA 18940
(Peace Pole located at the rear of the parking lot, at the entrance of the cemetery on Congress Street)

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. Eighteen of those lives were members of our own Bucks County community, including nine from Lower Makefield Township, the highest toll of any community in Pennsylvania.

This year, on the 24th anniversary of that tragic day, we invite you to join us for a brief but meaningful gathering at our church’s Peace Pole.

We will:

  • Gather in silence as the moment approaches.
  • At 8:46 AM, the exact time the first plane struck the North Tower, we will enter into prayer.
  • The names of the 18 Bucks County victims will be read aloud in remembrance.
  • Together, we will close by proclaiming the prayer inscribed on the peace pole: “May peace prevail on earth.”

The service will last about 10–12 minutes, making it possible for those who need to continue on to work or school.

All are welcome to come, stand in silence, and remember with us. The Peace Pole is located at the rear of the church parking lot, behind the cemetery on Congress Street.

We Will Never Forget.
