THE CELLAR

At NUMC Youth Group, the connections youth make during their teenage years can impact the rest of their lives. Stable relationships with friends, families, and partners are vital for young people as they can influence physical health, spiritual growth, healthy self-esteem, and a sense of belonging. Youth need relationships with each other, with committed, faithful adults, and especially with Jesus Christ.

Our weekly programs, special events, retreats, and summer trips equip and empower our youth to grow in the knowledge and spirit of Christ. Youth also learn to develop deeper friendships with other Christian youth in a safe space, how to serve, develop good leadership skills, and encourage and be accountable for one another.

Weekly Youth Schedule – Sundays

  • 9:00 am – Sunday school (6th grade & 7th grade)
  • 9:00 am – Confirmation Class (8th grade) in the Youth Room
  • High School Students- Attend worship with one another during the 10:00 am service, or with their own families.
  • 4 pm-6 pm – Youth Group: Join other students as we hang out, play games, hear a message, and meet with our small groups.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION

At NUMC, we see Confirmation as a significant step in a young person’s faith journey. We offer this formal membership step for 8th-grade students and older. Students learn about how personal faith in Jesus Christ will transform their lives and how they can be contributing members of the body of Christ at Newtown UMC. We meet in the Youth Room at 9:00 AM.

If you would like more information about signing up your student for confirmation classes, please fill out the information form below and download the information packet.

Class begins each November, and Confirmation Sunday takes place in May.
